Orne Harbour 64°37’S / 062°32’W
lies on the northwest side of the Arctowski Peninsula, near the northern entrance to Errera Channel. It was discovered by de Gerlache in 1898 and named by whalers. The harbour has two parts and is surrounded by glaciers. At the southern entrance lies Spigot Peak, a black 286 m (938 ft) tall spire named after a spigot or cask plug. Orne Harbour is home to a chinstrap penguin colony, as well as Cape petrels, Wilson’s storm petrels, blue-eyed shags and Skuas.

Enterprise Island in Wilhelmina Bay 64°32’S / 062°00’W
lies at the northeast end of Nansen Island in Wilhelmina Bay. It was charted by de Gerlache during the Belgian Antarctic expedition in 1898, and originally named Île Nansen. Enterprise Island was known to whalers who operated in this region in the early 1900’s, it is usually only visited by ships who bring passengers to explore the wreck of the SS GUVERNØREN, a state-of-the-art whale factory ship which caught fire in 1915 and was beached on the island. Eighty-five men on board the SS GUVERNØREN were saved, but 3500 tons of whale oil on board were lost, over 560 whales died for nothing. Today the ship’s bow and bridge are above water, reclaimed by nature and colonized by Antarctic Terns.
